This greeting may sound strange, but it reflects what actually happens in life. The 1st Sept marks the beginning of the Meteorological Autumn, a new school term, a new academic year, new business plans. Even football championships have just resumed.
People back from Summer holidays start making plans for the working year ahead (e.g. learning a new foreign language, getting a gym membership, subscribing to theatre/concerts seasonal passes, etc.).
Days are becoming tangibly shorter and cooler, so we start spending more time indoor, reading books, watching films, listening to music and making plans for 2026/27.
All of us, either wearing the professional or personal hat, are busy thinking about the future.
This is the charm of 1st September.
